Message from Executive Director:

To give a HAND UP to the homeless has been LAMP's mission since 1984. This happens because of the contagious generosity, compassionate caring, and dutiful giving of its donors. LAMP donors are agents of change who give their hearts, time, advocacy and finances to bring lasting impact to the less fortunate in South Georgia.

LAMP is a homeless shelter located in Valdosta, Georgia that serves eight counties Lowndes, Brooks, Echols, Lanier, Cook, Tift, Colquitt, and Berrien. The only shelter of its kind that houses men, women and families between Orlando Florida and Macon Georgia. LAMP is a housing 1st shelter which means our programs are designed to get you housed upon exiting the program.

We are a caring faith-based non-profit organization providing for the basic needs of homeless and hurting people in our community. We believe that all persons are created in the image of God. We operate on the premise that all of God’s children deserve food, clothing, shelter, and love.

What We Do

LAMP provides temporary emergency shelter to men, women, and families in Lowndes and surrounding counties. In addition to temporary housings, we provide wrap-around services that include case management and other treatment services.

HOMELESSNESS IS A COMPLICATED ISSUE. There is no one-size-fits-all solution that works for everyone. LAMP individually assesses each client's need, then develops a comprehensive approach to address the root causes of that person's homelessness.
