Dinner for Eight is a raffle held each year whereupon the winner receives a multi-course dinner of their choice, prepared at their home by the Executive Chef of Morrison's. The dinner also includes a setup crew, wait-staff, and cleanup crew. |
We don’t often see the Homeless in our community
or, if we do, we often choose to ignore them! Park Avenue United Methodist Church, in conjunction with LAMP’s
Changing Lives Campaign, is sponsoring a community-wide all night church campout called HOMELESS 4 a NIGHT!

The LAMP Poker Run is another annual event that is a lot of fun to not only participate in but, to put on as well. We have tremendous support from area motorcycle clubs as well as individuals. Each year it gets bigger and better. The stops along the way are great fun and the people are great company. To learn more about this event, contact Bob Tebedo at (229) 834-8633. |
Our Back-to-School event provides approximately 750 children with the school supplies they need to start the year. Once we have collected the supplies, we fill the students backpacks with the specific supplies indicated by their respective teachers so that the first day of school is a great one. This event requires strong volunteer support and lots of legwork but, it is well worth it. LAMP will also try to provide teachers with supplies throughout the year if available. |

Each year, LAMP provides hundreds of families with complete Thanksgiving meals. This event is a fantastic way to help families in our community to enjoy a wonderful day of celebration and fellowship. We are very grateful to the donors who make this event happen. |
LAMP's Annual Community Block Festival is a day of fun-filled and educational events. The event is free and open to the community. We have food, thanksgiving baskets, story book time, games, resources, vendors, live entertainment, and more. Each year hundreds of individuals gather to enjoy the company of their neighbors and friends. This event is a great opportunity for volunteers and provides a whole "block" of exciting things for kids and adults alike. We look forward to seeing you there! |

The Trinity Presbyterian Book Sale is another great, annual event that helps LAMP and its mission. This event draws hundreds of people and is an amazing opportunity for not only the casual reader but, also for collectors and bookstore owners as well. It is extremely well organized with books sorted by genre, cover type, and fiction/non-fiction. If you are a reader, you don't want to miss this one! |

Our Marquis Event is "Changing Lives" |
Changing Lives is an annual campaign designed to educate the citizens and youth of our community about the plight of the indigent and homeless in Valdosta and Lowndes county.
The campaign is comprised of many programs, events, and activites that are either orchestrated by or take place in schools, churches, businesses, civic organizations, social groups, volunteers, and others.
Every year, our list of events grows, our number of sponsors increases, the success of our fundraising improves, and our mission becomes more widely known.
To further comprehend how valuable your generosity is to this community, it is necessary to understand just what your support provides. You help us:
-
Give a "hand-up" to people in their time of economic crisis
-
Provide a safe haven for those in need of emergency and transitional shelter
-
Provide Life Skills Workshops that promote independent living
-
Present "how-to" classes that cover varied topics
-
Enable non-contributing citizens to become productive members of our community
-
Give the gift of self-reliance
-
Give people hope for a better and brighter future
-
Help more than 10% of Lowndes County residents
Thats right! Your participation ensures that we provide the aforementioned services (plus many more) to approximately 11,000 individuals each year.
Furthermore, your support shows others that you are a leader who understands that LAMP is "Changing" the lives of the indigent and homeless.
